Block printing is one of the oldest—and most versatile—forms of printmaking. From a hand-carved block (typically wood or linoleum), artists have long used this process to print everything from textiles and books to grassroots posters. With “the hand” clearly visible, block printing remains wonderfully tactile and expressive in an otherwise very digital world.
Join us for a hands-on introduction to this timeless art form. Bring a reference image or follow your intuition by drawing and carving directly onto the block. Everyone will be provided with their own 4”x6” block and five A7 greeting cards, and will be able to keep their block to continue printing after the session ends.
